Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is in good health, exercises regularly and is within 25 lbs. of their ideal weight. SmartLipo ™ with VASER ® LipoSelection ® works well for those with areas of local body fat deposits that have responded poorly to diet and exercise.
Preparation
To prepare for the procedure patients need to review all medications with Serenity Creek Med Spa as they may need to discontinue use prior to the procedure.
Treatment Time
The average SmartLipo ™ with VASER ® LipoSelection ® procedure takes 3-4 hours. The time varies based on the number of areas the patient is having treated.
The Treatment
Dr. Martens performs the SmartLipo ™ with VASER ® LipoSelection ® procedure on all patients.
On the day of the procedure, Dr. Martens marks the areas to be contoured and before pictures are taken to track results. A sedative is given to relax and prepare the patient for the procedure.
During the procedure, a very small cannula (tube) containing a laser fiber is inserted into the skin. The cannula is moved back and forth delivering the laser’s energy directly to the fat cells. This causes the fat cells to rupture and drain away easily. The laser’s energy interacts with the dermis, as well, creating collagen shrinkage. Because the laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately on contact, the SmartLipo ™ patient experiences less bleeding, swelling and bruising plus recovery time is faster when compared to conventional liposuction.
The patient feels very little pain or discomfort during the procedure. They may feel a minor stinging sensation and the impression of tugging of the skin, but these discomforts are minimal.
Recovery
Immediately following the procedure the patient is escorted to a recovery room while the local anesthesia begins to wear off, typically in less than an hour. SmartLipo ™ recovery does not involve the nauseating, disorienting recovery general anesthesia typically brings about—which many people consider the most difficult element of recovering from traditional liposuction.
Dr. Martens provides specific instructions for care prior to sending the patient home and a prescription for pain medication, if needed. The patient also receives a compression garment which is important to maximize results.
Directly after the SmartLipo ™ with VASER ® LipoSelection ® procedure, patients experience minor bruising, numbness and swelling. The bruising and numbness typically disappear within days, if not hours, of leaving the recovery room. The swelling dissipates over time, usually within two weeks.
Downtime
Following the procedure, patients need to restrict activity for a few days. Most patients return to their normal routine within three days of undergoing the SmartLipo ™ with VASER ® LipoSelection ® procedure.
Results
Most patients see results immediately following the SmartLipo ™ with VASER ® LipoSelection ® procedure. Improvements continue to be seen over the next six months following surgery.
The SmartLipo ™ with VASER ® LipoSelection ® produces permanent results in the areas treated as the fat cells in those areas are removed.

VelaShape Cellulite Treatment
VelaShape ™ technology removes unsightly cellulite and fat deposits. This powerful cellulite treatment is a combination of light, energy and specially designed rollers smooth the surface of the skin, significantly reducing the appearance of cellulite, while contouring your curves and reshaping your body’s problem areas.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is in good health, exercises regularly, and is within 20 lbs. of their ideal weight. VelaShape ™ works well for those with areas of cellulite that diet and exercise have not been able to impact.
Preparation
There are no special preparations needed for patients undergoing the VelaShape ™ treatment.
Treatment
A Certified Technician performs the VelaShape ™ procedure. They run the VelaShape ™ applicator over the treatment area and the patient feels a deep massage, suction and heat. The treatment time varies based on the size of the area being treated and is typically less than an hour. For example, a treatment on the thigh area lasts about 45 minutes while the abdomen treatment is about 30 minutes.
Serenity Creek Med Spa works with each patient to determine the number of treatment sessions needed to attain their desired result.
Recovery
Patients that have the VelaShape ™ procedure do not require any recovery time. We do recommend that they drink plenty of water following the procedure.
Downtime
There is no downtime with VelaShape ™. Following the procedure, patients can immediately return to their normal activity.
Results
After the first treatment, patients see smoother, firmer and tighter skin in the treated area. Patients also see a reduction in the circumference after the first or second treatment and cellulite improvement is achieved in as few as four sessions. Periodic maintenance treatments help maintain the results.
In a clinical, multi-center study, 85% of patients receiving VelaShape ™ on thighs reported a circumferential reduction of at least 1 cm and up to 7.2 cm.

The entire treatment takes approximately ten minutes.
Recovery
Treatment with BOTOX ® Cosmetic requires no recovery.
Downtime
There is no downtime following a BOTOX ® Cosmetic treatment.
Results
The patient sees a marked improvement in the targeted lines within days with full results visible in fourteen days. Results last for three to six months.

-Extended exposure to sun or heat
Patients may experience pain, tenderness, temporary redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, and bumps at the injection sites. These are typically mild to moderate in nature and clear up in 7 days or less.
Downtime
There is no downtime following a JUVEDERM ® treatment.

Intense Pulse Light Therapy–or IPL photofacial therapy–helps remove visible veins, smoke or sun damaged skin, acne, enlarged pores, liver spots, Rosacea, photo-aged skin, age spots (sun-induced freckles), most benign brown pigments, and redness caused by broken capillaries. Like laser therapy, it removes the dead outer skin and allows newly formed skin to grow problem-free. IPL Photofacial is safe and effective for all skin types except for dark complexions.
Preparation
Prior to having a IPL Photofacial, patients need to change their skin care routine to ensure maximum results.
-No laser hair removal for one month prior to treatment
-No Accutane or sun exposure two weeks prior to treatment
-No retinols or glycolic one week prior to treatment
-Avoid antibiotics that cause sun sensitivity on week prior to treatment
Treatment
IPL Photofacials are performed by a Certified Technician. The targeted area is cleaned and the patient is provided special eye wear for protection.
Recovery
After the procedure sunscreen is applied to protect the skin. Patients are advised to avoid sun exposure. In some cases patients may experience short-term reddening of the treated area.
Downtime
There is no downtime with IPL Photofacial. Following the procedure, patients can immediately return to their normal activity while following the prescribed skin care regime.
Results
IPL Photofacial requires a protocol of three to five treatments, each four to six weeks apart. Patients see tone and texture improvements as the treatment increases levels of collagen and produces new healthy skin cells. Mild to moderate wrinkles and superficial skin discolorations are also reduced.
Following the initial series of treatments, periodic touch-up treatments are recommended for maintenance.

Treatment
A Serenity Creek Med Spa Aesthetician performs the chemical peel. The Aesthetician cleanses the skin and then applies the peel to the treatment area.
Recovery
Recovery time varies based on the depth of the peel. Following the treatment, the Aesthetician provides the patient with skin care instructions including the expected peel time and how long they need to avoid sun exposure. In most cases, the peel process last for two to seven days.
Downtime
There is no downtime with chemical peels. Following the procedure, patients can immediately return to their normal activity while following the prescribed skin care regime.
Results
Results are visible when the skin has finished peeling. The longevity of the results varies based on the depth of the peel. Results for light peels that affect only the epidermis, the superficial layer of the skin, last up to two months. Medium peels affect the epidermis and the underlying dermis and produce results that last up to six months.
