Vicki Hansen

Vicki Hansen is a licensed medical aesthetician specializing in leading – edge skin care, cosmetic procedures and makeup application.  She obtained her aesthetician license from the Paul Mitchell Academy in 2005 has been dedicated to skin care since.

Vicki is a member of the American Association for Esthetics Education.  Her expertise includes state-of-the-art laser and cosmetic procedures such as IPL (Intense Pulse Light), laser hair removal, VelaShape™, Thermage, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning and chemical peels.  She also has extensive knowledge of a number of product lines including iS Clinical, DermaMedics, and GloMinerals.

Alicia Artuso

Alicia Artuso is Serenity Creek’s Lead Certified Medical Assistant. Alicia received her degree in Health Science from Saint Mary’s College of California while on a soccer scholarship. After moving to Texas in 2008, Alicia started her medical career at Brackenridge Hospital, where she spent two years in the trauma unit. She then moved on to a medical spa in Round Rock, serving as lead CMA, as well as the lead injection specialist. While at the medical spa in Round Rock, Alicia assisted with all surgical procedures, including Botox injections and all Filler products. Alicia also acted as a laser technician in Laser Hair Removal, IPL Photofacials, and Cellulite reduction therapies as well as doing some skin aesthetics, microdermabrasions, and chemical peels. At Serenity Creek, Alicia will be performing the same roles, treatments, and services that she has done in the past three years.

Proficient in skin analysis, laser treatments and product selection, Alicia can put together a skin regime for any skin type.  Alicia has extensive product training in iS Clinical, DermaMedics, and Glo Minerals. Alicia is currently in the Nursing program at Austin Community College and is projected to graduate in May 2014. Alicia ensures the flow of your procedure will be smooth and relaxing and that all of your needs will be met. She has a passion for interacting with people and is happy to answer any questions or concerns before, during or after your procedures.

Serenity Creek is discreetly located on a small street, in a quiet, relaxing unobtrusive setting, under mature Spanish Oaks. Inside everything is brand new, modern, contemporary, and relaxed. We are also near major thoroughfares on the Northwest side of town, though you’d never know it looking out the windows. No one will recognize your car parked here unless they come to the facility.

Serenity Creek Med Spa- SmartLipo Austin

Serenity Creek Med Spa combines two state-of-the-art technologies to permanently remove fat cells and tighten skin. SmartLipo ™, a laser-assisted system melts away fat cells and tightens skin, along with VASER ^® LipoSelection ^®, a gentle yet powerful ultrasonic technology that targets unwanted fat, but preserves other surrounding tissues. Melt away those trouble areas with minimal downtime and less discomfort than conventional liposuction.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is in good health, exercises regularly and is within 25 lbs. of their ideal weight.   SmartLipo ™ with VASER ^® LipoSelection ^® works well for those with areas of local body fat deposits that have responded poorly to diet and exercise.

Preparation

To prepare for the procedure patients need to review all medications with Serenity Creek Med Spa as they may need to discontinue use prior to the procedure.

Treatment Time

The average SmartLipo ™ with VASER ^® LipoSelection ^® procedure takes 3-4 hours.  The time varies based on the number of areas the patient is having treated.

The Treatment

Dr. Martens performs the SmartLipo ™ with VASER ^® LipoSelection ^® procedure on all patients.

On the day of the procedure, Dr. Martens marks the areas to be contoured and before pictures are taken to track results.  A sedative is given to relax and prepare the patient for the procedure.

During the procedure, a very small cannula (tube) containing a laser fiber is inserted into the skin. The cannula is moved back and forth delivering the laser’s energy directly to the fat cells.  This causes the fat cells to rupture and drain away easily.  The laser’s energy interacts with the dermis, as well, creating collagen shrinkage.  Because the laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately on contact, the SmartLipo ^™ patient experiences less bleeding, swelling and bruising plus recovery time is faster when compared to conventional liposuction.

The patient feels very little pain or discomfort during the procedure.  They may feel a minor stinging sensation and the impression of tugging of the skin, but these discomforts are minimal.

Recovery

Immediately following the procedure the patient is escorted to a recovery room while the local anesthesia begins to wear off, typically in less than an hour.  SmartLipo ™ recovery does not involve the nauseating, disorienting recovery general anesthesia typically brings about—which many people consider the most difficult element of recovering from traditional liposuction.
Dr. Martens provides specific instructions for care prior to sending the patient home and a prescription for pain medication, if needed.  The patient also receives a compression garment which is important to maximize results. 

Directly after the SmartLipo ™ with VASER ^® LipoSelection ^® procedure, patients experience minor bruising, numbness and swelling.  The bruising and numbness typically disappear within days, if not hours, of leaving the recovery room.  The swelling dissipates over time, usually within two weeks.

Downtime

Following the procedure, patients need to restrict activity for a few days.  Most patients return to their normal routine within three days of undergoing the SmartLipo ™ with VASER ^® LipoSelection ^® procedure.

Results

Most patients see results immediately following the SmartLipo ™ with VASER ^® LipoSelection ^® procedure. Improvements continue to be seen over the next six months following surgery.

The SmartLipo ™ with VASER ^® LipoSelection ^® produces permanent results in the areas treated as the fat cells in those areas are removed.

FDA Status

SmartLipo ™ and VASER ^® LipoSelection ^® are FDA Approved procedures.

Facial Austin

VelaShape ™ technology removes unsightly cellulite and fat deposits. This powerful cellulite treatment is a combination of light, energy and specially designed rollers smooth the surface of the skin, significantly reducing the appearance of cellulite, while contouring your curves and reshaping your body’s problem areas.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is in good health, exercises regularly, and is within 20 lbs. of their ideal weight.   VelaShape ™ works well for those with areas of cellulite that diet and exercise have not been able to impact.

Preparation

There are no special preparations needed for patients undergoing the VelaShape ™ treatment.

Treatment

A Certified Technician performs the VelaShape ™ procedure.  They run the VelaShape ™ applicator over the treatment area and the patient feels a deep massage, suction and heat.  The treatment time varies based on the size of the area being treated and is typically less than an hour.  For example, a treatment on the thigh area lasts about 45 minutes while the abdomen treatment is about 30 minutes.

Serenity Creek Med Spa works with each patient to determine the number of treatment sessions needed to attain their desired result.

Recovery

Patients that have the VelaShape ™ procedure do not require any recovery time.  We do recommend that they drink plenty of water following the procedure. 

Downtime

There is no downtime with VelaShape ™.   Following the procedure, patients can immediately return to their normal activity.

Results

After the first treatment, patients see smoother, firmer and tighter skin in the treated area. Patients also see a reduction in the circumference after the first or second treatment and cellulite improvement is achieved in as few as four sessions.  Periodic maintenance treatments help maintain the results.

In a clinical, multi-center study, 85% of patients receiving VelaShape ™ on thighs reported a circumferential reduction of at least 1 cm and up to 7.2 cm.

VelaShape ™ is approved by the FDA.

Cellulite treatment austin

Preparation

There are no special preparations for being treated with BOTOX ^® Cosmetic.

Treatment

Prior to treatment, Dr. Martens may numb the area with a cold pack to reduce discomfort.  Dr. Martens administers tiny injections of BOTOX ^® Cosmetic directly into the muscles that cause the wrinkles the patient is targeting.

The entire treatment takes approximately ten minutes.

Recovery

Treatment with BOTOX ^® Cosmetic requires no recovery.

Downtime

There is no downtime following a BOTOX ^® Cosmetic treatment.

Results

The patient sees a marked improvement in the targeted lines within days with full results visible in fourteen days.  Results last for three to six months.

FDA Status
