JUVÉDERM^®

JUVÉDERM^® is a new injectable filler technique that uses substances naturally found inside muscle and tendon (gel filler) to reduce wrinkles and soften skin folds and smile lines in the face. This method instantly fills in hollow spots or pits, eliminating wrinkles around your mouth and nose.

From smile lines to vertical lip lines, you can smooth away wrinkles and restore natural contours.

Ideal Candidate

Patients looking to smooth lines in the nose and mouth area are ideal candidates for JUVÉDERM®.

Preparation

Patients receiving JUVÉDERM^® should avoid taking aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) for at least a week prior to treatment.

Treatment

Prior to treatment, Dr. Martens may numb the treatment area with a topical anesthetic.  The Dr. injects JUVÉDERM^® under the patient’s skin to replace lost skin volume.   If needed, the treated areas are gently massaged.

The entire treatment takes about fifteen minutes.

Recovery

For 24 hours following the procedure, patients need to avoid:

-Strenuous exercise
-Consumption of alcoholic beverages
-Extended exposure to sun or heat

Patients may experience pain, tenderness, temporary redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, and bumps at the injection sites. These are typically mild to moderate in nature and clear up in 7 days or less.

Downtime

There is no downtime following a JUVÉDERM^® treatment.

Results

Results are instantly visible and typically last up to one year.   JUVÉDERM^® results vary, however, and correction is temporary.  Additional treatments may be required to maintain the results.
